The name Berri is taken from the Aboriginal word 'bery bery' meaning 'bend in the river'. Known as the commercial hub of the Riverland and set amongst a sea of vineyards and citrus groves.
The Berri Riverfront Walk takes you back in time from the aboriginal mural under the bridge, pumping station, river traffic history and a “Special Place for Jimmy James”. An extended walk will take you meandering through Martin Bend Wetlands to the popular recreational and camping reserve at Martins Bend or venture out to Wilabalangaloo nature trail.
The disused water tower at the top of Vaughan Terrace has been converted into the Berri Lookout Tower. Wander up the 15.8 metre staircase for stunning views of the Berri township and Murray River. There is water for travellers and a barbecue in the picnic area.
Challenge yourself at the Berri Golf Club set amongst native plantings on the fully irrigated fairways and greens.
Stop in at Berri Estates, the largest winery and distillery in Australia.
